Personal Quilts

My Quilt

Inside

Outside

Past

Future

When it came to doing this project to me it wasn’t that hard to figure out what I wanted to show. It was just a matter of how to show it. Everything I put on my quilts are all from personal situations and ideas. I spent a lot of time asking all the people what they thought about me as a person. I got mostly the same answers from everyone. I tried to take what they all said and put it all on a picture, and show me from there point of view. But out of all my quilts that I did my favorites are my Past and Future because it helped show me how much I have grown and changed over the last 18years.

My quilts are all connected by the different types of purple and the lighting that pops out when you look at them. All my quilts have something that has to do with music because that was a big part of my growing up I want it to be a big part of my future. I didn’t want to put all of myself into the quilts because they are personal, but I did want to show people another side of me not just the funny person they get to see in class. Because there’s always two part to one person.

Out of all the projects we have did this is the one project I got into the most because it was all about me and how I feel. The inside me quilt was the one I spent the most time on because it’s what’s inside me. It’s like a big city in my head there’s so much going on around me and everything is going so fast that it’s hard to know where to go and what to do. It’s like I have songs in my head that won’t come out. I feel like this was a way to get myself out there and help me find out what path I want to as I get ready to graduate from high school.

My experience with this project overall as fun and I wouldn’t do anything different. I think that if you show to much that people would want more but it’s always good leave them wanting more and keep them coming back. I think this was a good idea for everybody to get too see another side of each other and how we all come to different parts of life and how we all connect in different ways when it comes to certain things in our life.

Artist Statement

In my portfolio you will find many different pictures of different types of trick and tool we used in photo shop, and how they help make a regular picture into a work of art. Me personally I think I could of did a better job with my portfolio and taking some better pictures, but overall I like it I tried really hard every time a had a project to do. Changing pictures in photo shop isn’t as easy as it looks it takes a lot of hard work and focus to get it done and how you want it. I way most successful with the social issue just because the topic I wrote about it how I feel, because music is the only way people can get away from there problems and it’s the only way that most people can get there feelings out with having to say them out loud.

I had trouble with the alien, monster, and zombie project because it took a lot more time to do and it had a lot more steps to it, my final product didn’t come out how I wanted but it was close enough. To make myself better in the future I would take more time to think things out and change them to the point that it’s what I see in my head. Coming up with the idea is usually the hardest part of any project no matter how big or small it is. It’s just a matter of putting your mind to it a taking things one step at a time.

I have seen improvement in the work that I have done. I can tell that I’m getting a better feel for the camera and all the projects. As the days go on it gets easier and easier, and you get a better understanding of what photographers go through on any given day. I feel like art is a way to get too know yourself better and you can get to see the real you. To me it’s “A way to get away” from everything it’s just a matter of finding what type of art is best for you.

Personal Words

The lyrics that i chose was "One " by Tyrese.

"Ain't nothing gonna stop me from lovin' youAnd wife'in youSpendin' all my life with you Baby I'm so committed This one is one I'm with itIts so damn good All the sex you want without no hat Got a real nigga thats gon' have your back, Thats just the way it isAnd thats just how its gon' go And you gon' be that one"
I chose these lyrics because when you find true love nothing should stop you from the way that you are feeling. To me these lyrics are words of true love it show that no matter how many females and how bad a person cooks, doesn't matter at the end. Its all about how you feel in your heart and thats all that matters and nothing else.

Social Issue: "Music and Life"

In the photo there are five young boys who are all sitting down on a porch. The boys look around the ages of 15-18. The photo that is in back and white with the words “A way to get AWAY” in red, black, and white. The boys are sitting around like they are thinking of something to do like trying to find a way away from where they are now.

My social issue is called “Music and Life” because for years music has been the only way many people especially young teenagers can get away from there problems at home, neighborhoods, school, and friends. It has been a way for people to express themselves in a respectable manner for everyone. I picked this issue because I never been the person to come out and say things so I always would write music and a lot of people that I know that live in bad places or have a bad life do a lot of music so they can stay off the streets and do good in there lives. That’s the only reason we have all the artist we do today is because they needed a way out. All it is, is finding something that you like and stay with it, it can be anything from collecting to writing or cooking just find something that takes you away from all the bad things in your life.

Scary Effects

Vampire

Alien

Out of all of them my favorite was the Vampire because it was a way to make was pretty easy to do and making all the blood was fun. We learned how to use the different brushes and we learned how to do make our layers come together. It was difficult to make the layer blend together into one. I did well on making it all come together in the end, and making it look kinda real lol.

Photographic Effects

Out of all the tricks I liked cross process the most because you got to use alot of different things at once to help bring your picture out more. I discovered how to make the light in my picture turn different colors.

Portraits

I think I was most successful with the artistic portait because it was easy to show emotion. For the artistic portait I had my model show most of her emotion through her face, as the light from the sum came down on her.

Compositional Trick #8 Fill in Flash

Fill in Flash can be used to show the picture better and can be used to create a darker picture when not used. It can show different types of lighting that you wouldnt normally see in with a regular picture.

Compsitional Trick #7 Lighting

Lighting can be used to show the mood on someones face and give you a deeper feeling and respect for the person in the picture, it also can tell a story and it can set different emotions.

Compositional Trick #6 Framing

Framing is a tool used to have the picture go straight to the point of focus. It is used to narrow the things in the picture that would most of the time take you off focus from the main idea.

Compositional Trick #4 Simplicity

I didn't really like this picture that I took I think i could of did a better job. But it was kind of hard to me to find a simple idea I think i thought too much about the background being simple and not the picture.

Compositional trick #3 MACRO

Macro is a mode in the camera that lets you get a close up view of things like Flowers, Bugs, and little things that you pass everyday. It makes the background blurry to help pop the picture out more.

Compostional Trick #2 Leading Lines

Leading Lines is a way to use the lines that are around you to lead you to the main object of the picture. It can be a way to get the person to be more interested and better to understand.

Compositional Trick #1 Rule of Thirds

Rule of thirds is when you set the camera up so it has a 3 x 3 setting or 9 boxes. this is used to get a better angle and not always have your pictures center and right in the middle. When you have your camera in the Rule of Thirds it makes it so the position of the camera is more angled and makes it more intresting to look at.
